If You Love Your Practitioner, Show It — Before They're Gone

Let’s get real for a minute — because this needs to be said.

You know that massage therapist who finally gets your pain after years of dead-end treatments? The sugaring specialist who makes your Brazilian feel more like a power move than a punishment? The practitioner you trust to see you at your most vulnerable and STILL leave you feeling like a glowing goddess?

They didn’t magically appear.

It probably took you a while to find them. A few awkward appointments elsewhere. Some “never again” moments. Maybe even a little desperation. And now that you’ve got them — you feel safe, cared for, understood. You leave every session saying, “OMG, I’m so glad I found you.”

But here’s the raw truth no one wants to say out loud:

If we don’t feel that love back — in the ways that help our businesses survive — we won’t be around for long.

And we’re not just talking about bookings (although obviously, thank you for those). What keeps small service businesses alive — especially women-led ones — is community support. And that means:

  • Leaving that Google review. It only takes 90 seconds, but it helps us get found by new clients — the kind who’ve been searching for someone just like us the way you once were.

  • Liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts. Social media is a beast. The algorithm doesn’t care how great our services are if no one’s engaging. Every like, every emoji, every “YASSSS this is my girl!” helps our work be seen by people who need it.

  • Telling your friends. Seriously. A good old-fashioned referral — in your group chat, at the gym, or during brunch when someone complains about razor burn or a stiff neck — means the world. It’s powerful. And it keeps our doors open.

These little actions?

They literally help keep the lights on.

No algorithm = no visibility = no new clients. 😔

And maybe you're thinking, “Well, I don’t even live near you anymore,” or “It’s not really relevant to me.”

But here’s the thing: even if you’re not local, your support still matters.Your like, share, or comment might be the reason someone in your circle — or someone watching your feed — finds their way to a practitioner who helps them feel seen and safe.

We don't always know who our support touches. But those tiny actions? They ripple. And they’re powerful.

Because here’s the part no one sees:

Behind the scenes, many of us are one slow month away from wondering if we can keep doing what we love. Rent is high. Product costs are rising. Social media reach is down. And burnout? Yeah, that’s real too — especially when we’re pouring everything we’ve got into helping you feel better, but we’re not sure if we’ll make enough to pay ourselves this month.

So if you love your practitioner — and I mean really love them — support them the way they support you:

Leave the review.

Share the post.

Tag your friends.

Buy the gift card.

Book ahead.

Tell people why you keep coming back.

Because without your support, the person who makes you feel amazing may not be there the next time you need them.

And let’s be honest — do you really want to go back to that waxer who made small talk while ripping your labia off? Didn’t think so.

Support your girl. She’s working hard to support you.

With love,

Kristin @ Her Smooth Moves
